The prolonged feud between Mamata Banerjee and the BJP reached a halt after Supreme Court's verdict today. The apex court directed Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to appear before the CBI and "faithfully" cooperate into the investigation of cases arising out of the Saradha chit fund scam, while making it clear that he will not be arrested. Hailing the judgment as "positive", Bengal CM called off her 'Save The Constitution' dharna which had entered its enters third day today.

Central Bureau of Investigation which alleged that Kolkata top cop Rajeev Kumar has destroyed evidence pertaining to the Saradha chit fund scam, had filed a plea in the Supreme Court.
The country’s biggest investigation agency moved the apex court on Monday. Speaking to the bench, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that at the last moment it was decided to wait till Monday morning before approaching the Supreme Court, as CBI was contemplating of moving the SC on Sunday night itself, when West Bengal police took into custody agency officials.
After agreeing to hear an urgent plea by CBI, the bench said it will come down heavily on him if he "even remotely" tries to destroy the evidence.
The probe agency's applications alleged that an extraordinary situation has arisen in which the top police officials of the West Bengal Police are sitting on a dharna along with a political party in Kolkata.
As per the allegations levied by CBI, Kolkata top cop has destroyed a red diary and pen drive, which contained information on 300 billion scam.
Even West Bengal government on Monday filed a petition against the CBI in Calcutta High Court. The hearing for the same is also going to take place on Tuesday.
The top court said all material or evidence and additional documents has to be placed before it by means of affidavit.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been sitting on a dharna since 8.30pm Sunday. On Monday she described her sit-in over the CBI's attempt to question Kolkata Police chief as a "non-political" protest.
At the outset, the SG said an "extraordinary situation" which has happened in which CBI officials were arrested in Kolkata and Jt Director, CBI and his family were kept hostage.
