New Delhi: As Rahul Gandhi led Congress has swept the Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh assembly polls, the focus has now shifted to the Chief Ministerial candidates. As per a decision made in MLA meet in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan on Wednesday; the entire decision has been left upon Gandhi. A similar meeting of MLAs will take place in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.
Kamal Nath’s name is being taken as confirmed for Madhya Pradesh CM, whereas the choice between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot on Rajasthan CM is yet to be made. Meanwhile in Chhattisgarh, Rahul followed a new strategy by calling party workers and asked them to share the name of their preferred CM face via audio message.
Kamal Nath’s position CERTAIN:
Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia both went to Raj bhawan and handed over a letter containing signatures from 121 MLAs to governor, seeking claim to form a government in the state. The final decision on CM post will be left with Rahul Gandhi. The name of CM will be declared in party’s MLA meet today evening.
Ahead of elections, both Kamal Nath’s and Scindia’s names were being floated as CM candidates, but after Wednesday’s meeting of the party MLAs, Kamal Nath’s position looks stronger.
