Cyclone Gaja Live Updates: Storm to make landfall in evening; Tamil Nadu on high alert
Cyclone Gaja is set to make landfall between Cuddalore and Pamban districts in Tamil Nadu on Thursday evening, the IMD said. The weather department has issued high alert and said that cyclone Gaja is very likely to cross coast between Pamban and Cuddalore on Thursday evening or night with a wind speed gusting upto 100 kmph.

IMD on cyclone gaja: It is very likely to move west-southwestwards and cross Tamil Nadu coast between Pamban and Cuddalore, around Nagapattinam during late evening of today, the 15th November 2018 as a Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph.

IMD bulletin: Cyclone Gaja is very likely to move westsouthwestwards and intensify further into Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 6hrs. While moving westsouthwestwards thereafter, it is likely to cross Tamilnadu coast b/w Pamban and Cuddalore around Nagapattinam during 15th November evening/night as a Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph.
IMD bulletin: Cyclonic Storm Gaja over Southwest Bay of Bengal moved further westsouthwestwards with a speed of 14 kmph during past 6 hrs & lay centered at 0530 hours IST of today, the 15th Nov over Southwest Bay of Bengal near lat 11.5°N and longitude 83.2°E, about 370 km eastnortheast of Nagapattinam(Tamilnadu).
In its Thursday bulletin, the IMD said the cyclone moved at 14 kmph and lay centred over east-northeast of Nagapattinam at 5.30 a.m.

The Met office had warned storm surge of about 1.0 metres likely to inundate low-lying areas of Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal district of Puducherry at the time of landfall.
